Progress faster and ride with more confidence through professional mountain bike skills instruction. Rocky Mountain Guides' skills clinics focus on fundamental technique—cornering, braking, body position, climbing, and descending—that transforms how you ride. Whether you're new to mountain biking or an intermediate rider hitting plateaus, our experienced instructors help you break through barriers and tackle terrain that previously seemed intimidating.

Based in Breckenridge and serving Summit County's extensive trail network, our small group instruction (typically 2-4 riders per coach) ensures personalized feedback and rapid skill development.

Trips Depart Daily from: Breckenridge, Keystone, Frisco, Dillon

What You'll Learn

Our skills clinics are structured around core mountain biking fundamentals:

Body Position & Balance: Learn proper attack position, weight distribution for different terrain, and how to use your body as suspension. Proper position is the foundation for all other skills.

Braking Technique: Master when and how to brake effectively. Learn front/rear brake modulation, threshold braking, and how to maintain control on steep descents.

Cornering: Develop smooth, fast cornering technique. We cover line choice, body lean vs. bike lean, looking ahead, and maintaining speed through turns.

Climbing Efficiency: Improve your climbing with proper gear selection, pacing, weight distribution, and momentum management. Learn to clean technical climbs that previously required walking.

Descending Confidence: Tackle steeper, more technical descents with improved technique. Learn to read terrain, choose lines, and maintain control at higher speeds.

Technical Features: Approach rocks, roots, drops, and obstacles with proper technique. Progress from avoidance to confidence on technical trail features.

The single best thing I ever did for my skiing was call Rocky Mountain Guides. Rocky Mountain Guides is your go to for winter adventures. I completed avalanche training and have since completed many backcountry ski touring trips with them. Though my initial interest was backcountry skiing, I ended up learning more about ski technique than I ever thought possible. Looking forward to more winter ski touring trips with them and maybe some summer climbing next year!
