Mountain Bike Guide Service

We offer mountain biking for all skill levels. Beginners should be comfortable riding a bicycle and able to handle easy trail features like gentle curves and small obstacles. Intermediate riders can navigate blue trails with confidence. Advanced riders tackle technical terrain including steep sections, tight corners, and challenging features. During booking, we'll discuss your experience and match you with appropriate trails and services.

You can bring your own bike or rent locally. Several shops in Breckenridge and Frisco offer quality mountain bike rentals including full-suspension bikes, hardtails, and e-mountain bikes. We can recommend rental shops based on your skill level and the type of riding planned. Book rentals in advance during peak season (July-August).

Skills clinics focus on technique improvement—cornering, braking, body position, climbing, and descending. We spend time practicing specific skills with coaching and feedback. Guided tours emphasize exploring trails and covering distance, though guides do provide technique tips throughout the ride. If you want to improve your riding, choose a skills clinic. E-bike regulations vary by trail and jurisdiction. Many Summit County trails now permit Class 1 e-bikes (pedal-assist only, no throttle, 20 mph max assist). However, some trails remain e-bike prohibited, especially in designated Wilderness areas. Our guides know current regulations and plan routes accordingly. E-bike rules change periodically, so always check current status.

Summit County trails start at 9,000+ feet elevation. Climbing at altitude is cardiovascular work—you'll breathe harder and tire faster than at sea level. For beginner tours and skills clinics, moderate fitness is sufficient. Intermediate and advanced tours require good aerobic conditioning and leg strength. E-bikes make altitude more manageable by providing pedal assist on climbs.

Wear athletic clothing suitable for cycling—padded bike shorts or pants, moisture-wicking shirt, and sturdy shoes (clipless pedals or flat-soled shoes designed for biking). Bring layers as temperatures change with elevation and exertion. Sunglasses, sunscreen, and gloves are recommended. Helmets are mandatory—we provide quality helmets if you don't have your own.

Bike park experience (lift-served downhill) is different from trail riding that includes climbing. If you're a strong downhill rider but haven't climbed much, consider a shuttle-assisted tour where we drive you up and you ride down. This lets you enjoy descents without the cardiovascular demands of climbing at altitude. Alternatively, an e-bike tour provides motor assist for climbing.

All our guides carry tools, spare parts (tubes, brake pads, chain links), and have mechanical expertise. We handle minor repairs on the trail. For more serious issues, we'll contact our rental shop partners or arrange vehicle pickup if necessary. This support system is one key advantage of guided tours over riding independently.
