Mountaineering around the Continental Divide, the Gore Range Wilderness and the Ten Mile Range will let you see the stunning Colorado Rockies in a different way. With many peaks close to a summit elevation of 13,000feet or higher, a multitude of mountaineering and climbing adventures are possible. Mountaineering routes will take you off the beaten path, in the busy season very often covered by a multitude of hikers. In many cases you will pass historic mining sites and also may hear the one or other interesting historic fact from your guide.

Equipment

  • Sturdy shoes with a grippy sole (closed toe shoes, please no flip flops or sandals, covering the ankle required)
  • Sun protection: hat, sunglasses, sunblock
  • Clothing: athletic shirt, athletic pants, wind/rain jacket, extra light layer
  • Hiking poles (optional, available for rent at RMG)
  • Other gear such as crampons, ice axe, helmet, harness may be required (available for rent at RMG)
  • Plenty of water (1.5 liters / 32 oz minimum
  • Snacks and/or lunch
